Hey there family and friends, it’s almost time for a Turner's Syndrome Walk! I have started a team for Little Miss Layla and we would love if you would join us on this day to support Layla through this journey God has in store for her. Some of you know that Layla was diagnosed back in 2018 with a rare Genetic/Chromosomal Disorder. Making her a very special Butterfly to us all. Most of you don’t really know what Turner's Syndrome is so here is a brief explanation. Turner’s Syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that occurs 1 in 2,500 newborn girls worldwide, but it is more common among pregnancies that do not survive to full-term. There are two types of Turner's Syndrome. First type is a more common Turner’s Syndrome that affects girls who have only one X chromosome versus two; and then there is Mosaic Turner Syndrome which is the type Layla has. Within this condition girls are born with a sex chromosome that is partially missing or rearranged rather than completely absent. Meaning they have one normal X chromosome and the other one is not a complete X, or it is misshaped. Both types cause developmental abnormalities and infertility. However, in worse cases it can also affect their kidney and heart functions.We have a long way down this journey to keep Layla strong and healthy despite this condition. Therefore, we would love for your support as we continue Layla’s journey. And joining us with this walk would be the first step for that support.
