Info on Turner Syndrome: TS occurs in approximately one out of every 2,000- 4,000 female live births. It is a chromosomal condition caused by the complete or partial absence of the second sex chromosome. Harper was diagnosed with TS when she was 4 years old. She had completely stopped growing and now depends on daily injections, of growth hormones, to help her thrive. Not only does this help her height wise but it helps her internal organs as well. She’ll start estrogen replacement, around age 11 or 12, to kick start puberty. TS can cause liver, heart, kidney and thyroid problems. She has non-function ovaries and the chances of carrying a child of her own are slim to none. Hearing loss, celiac disease, learning differences, and a slew of physical traits are very common with TS but the list goes on.
Did you know that 98% of TS babies do not survive to full gestation? The fact that she is here is a miracle!!!
